Just came across your blog via Instapundit.
What a marvelous blog title. I knew what your title referred to as soon as I saw it. Wonder how many do without your explanation.
Waugh is one of my favorite authors & Brideshead is a great, tho, I suspect, largely forgotten novel. His sadness at what Hooper represents & his economy of words in describing how he felt was touching.
Words fail me when it comes to describing the age of Sheehan as it did during the age of Fonda & Kerry.
PS I used the opening of Waugh’s Decline & Fall (baying for broken glass) to put the Duke fiasco in some perspective, but my moralist friends ignored it.

The truth is that very few people get the reference. Most people think my name is "Hooper". Cripes ... it isn't even "Ryder".
I love Brideshead ... and "Age of Hooper" encapsulates so perfectly my view of what's going on over here. Luckily, living in DC gives me the opportunity to observer ... and record ... much of the decay.
